Paris Fashion Week witnessed the highly anticipated debut of Chemena Kamali, the newly appointed Creative Director at Chloé, as she unveiled her playful vision for the iconic French fashion house. Kamali’s FW24 collection seamlessly blends Chloé’s rich heritage with her own innovative twist, marking a new chapter for the brand.

Chloé, renowned for its effortless femininity and bohemian elegance since its establishment in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, has continually attracted fashion icons such as Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin. Under the stewardship of previous creative directors like Phoebe Philo and Gabriela Hearst, the brand has evolved while maintaining its spirit of freedom and individuality.

Prior to Kamali’s tenure, Gabriela Hearst led Chloé through a successful phase marked by a focus on sustainability and ethical practices. However, in 2023, Hearst transitioned to focus solely on her eponymous brand, paving the way for Kamali to take the reins.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins and with previous experience at Alexander McQueen, Kamali brings a fresh perspective to Chloé. Her playful and whimsical aesthetic, coupled with her deep understanding of the brand’s heritage from her time working under Philo, MacGibbon, and Waight Keller, promises an exciting evolution for Chloé.

Kamali’s debut collection, “Chloé’s Dynasties Look to the Future,” for Fall/Winter 2024 captivated audiences with its blend of 1970s-inspired flounces and modern touches. Set against the backdrop of a raw, brutalist warehouse space, the collection exuded a sense of feminine strength and timeless youthfulness.
